Service 86 is an inter-town route connecting Sengkang East with Yio Chu Kang Rd and Ang Mo Kio. It has a short express sector on the Tampines Expressway (TPE), between Punggol Road and Jalan Kayu.

This service benefits from demand between Ang Mo Kio MRT/Int and residential areas around Yio Chu Kang Road, as well as between Sengkang MRT/Int with residential blocks around Sengkang East.

  • 2007 (28 Apr): Amended to Ang Mo Kio Integrated Transport Hub (ITH)
  • 2010 (02 Dec): Designated wheelchair-accessible bus route (WAB)
  • 2013: Service improvement under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP)
  • 2013 (13 Oct): Route amendment due to permanent closure of a section of Jalan Kayu, four bus stops relocated. 0.1km added to D1; 0.2km added to D2.

  1. I remember from a 1999 Translink guide that 59 goes from AMK to Jln Kayu (under TIBS). Then the 2000 guide stated that 86 goes from AMK to Sengkang (under SBS). I believe the altering to Sengkang happened during the renumbering to 866, since it is logical that 864 and 865 also started from Sengkang as well.
