Route History

Service 136 serves as a residential route between Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon Gardens, Upper Serangoon Road, Sengkang East (Rivervale) and Punggol East (Edgefield). The route is unique in having a u-turn at Upper Serangoon Road in the direction of Ang Mo Kio. Despite its unique inter-town route segments, demand remains moderate to weak during off-peak hours; however it still benefits from student demand from various schools in Sengkang and Punggol.

This service calls at Serangoon Garden Circus twice in different directions, i.e. towards Punggol Int and towards Ang Mo Kio Ter. Red and white service plates are used to distinguish the direction of travel in addition to Electronic Display Signages (EDS) on buses. Red plate indicates buses heading for Punggol; white plate indicates buses heading for Ang Mo Kio.

Fare: Charges fares for regular trunk services. See Bus Fares for exact fares.

Fleet: Service 136′s fleet has a majority of Scania K230UBs. Double-deck bus crossovers operate in the morning, performing one Ang Mo Kio bound trip of 136 before doing 22 for the rest of the day. Double-decks in the day are relatively uncommon.
