Route History

Spanning East and West, Express service 506 plies between the residential estates of Jurong East and Upper East Coast, via Bukit Batok, Toa Payoh, Bedok Reservoir and Bedok North. It incorporates an express sector along the PIE between Bukit Batok and Toa Payoh, as well as between Kim Keat Link and Jalan Eunos.

Much of the express sectors of this route plies the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), however buses may ply alternative routes along the Express sector subject to traffic conditions.

Despite being an express route, other basic bus services compliment the route over various sectors. Service 985 connects Bukit Batok with Jln Toa Payoh also via PIE, and Services 5 and 59 connect Lorong 6 Toa Payoh / Jln Toa Payoh to Jln Eunos. Due to its unique route between Bedok Reservoir and Upper East Coast, residents of Bedok South rely on the route for its inter-town connections.

Fare: Charges regular distance-based express fares. See Bus Fares for exact fares.

Fleet: Service 506′s fleet comprises Volvo B10M MkIV, Scania K230UB, Mercedes-Benz Citaro & Volvo B9TL Double-decker buses.

  1. Can you arrange the double decker to leave Jurong East interchange at 6.00am so that my daughter and other passengers can have a place to sit as she takes this bus to school in Toa Payoh.
