History:

  • 2010 (01 May): Introduced on 1st May 2010, this express service provides a faster link from Choa Chu Kang to Resorts World Sentosa. It operates from 7.00am to 10.00pm from Choa Chu Kang Int and 8.30am to 11.30pm from Resorts World Sentosa and charges express fares.
  • 2015 (22 Mar): Designated wheelchair-accessible bus route (WAB)

Service 188R is an express bus service which operates on Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays. Duplicating Service 188, the service connects the residential estates of Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok and Jurong East with Telok Blangah, HarbourFront and Resorts World Sentosa.

The route plies a long express sector along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) in both directions, skipping stops along AYE, Clementi Road and Pasir Panjang altogether, making it a very fast connection from the housing estates in the West to the central areas of HarbourFront and Sentosa island.

The route was introduced in May 2010, to compliment the opening of Resorts World Sentosa earlier that year. High capacity articulated / double-deck buses are not deployed due to insufficient demand. Along with Service 963R and NightRider services, passengers are spared from Sentosa admission charges, and they provide a cheaper alternative to Service RWS8 for an inbound journey from HarbourFront. Passengers can board from 14129 Telok Blangah Rd (HarbourFront Stn).

Route Variants:

Fare: Charges Express fares. Refer to Fare Table.

Fleet: Service 188R′s fleet comprises of random single-deck buses from Kranji Bus Depot (KJDEP) owing to flexibility in weekend deployments. Mercedes-Benz O405 and MAN NL323F buses are most commonly sighted.
