Route History

Service 855 is an inter-town route serving between the housing estates of Yishun, Farrer, Bukit Merah and Lower Delta, and the suburban areas of Lornie and Upper Thomson, connecting them to HarbourFront. The route is frequented as a popular connection between various housing estates, notably between Yishun – Upp Thomson and Bukit Merah – HarbourFront. Its sector between Bukit Merah, Lower Delta and HarbourFront is well received due to high passenger demand and lack of alternative routes. On a whole, the route encounters moderate demand throughout the day, and high capacity double-deck / articulated buses are not deployed on a daily basis.

The catchment areas along Service 855’s route are mostly low density housing, and the route does not duplicate any other bus service significantly, owin to its own unique sectors. Introduced in 1989 by Trans-Island, the route has not undergone any amendments since.

Fare: See Fare Table.

Fleet: Service 855′s fleet comprises of a majority of Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, with smaller numbers of Mercedes-Benz O405 and Mercedes-Benz OC500LE buses. Additional MAN NL323Fs were adde dunder the BSEP scheme. SMRT’s demonstrator Citaro (SMB136C) is a common sight on Service 855.

  1. Please have more trip of bus 855 during the peak season timing. Wait for 30minutes no bus at bus stop 53061. Over one bus is full of passengers. I need to rushing back to fetch my 2 kids from students care at Yishun. Bus 167 166 410 is about 5 to 6 bus pass by but no 855 at all! It’s second time I write in a letter. But be considered. We are working mother, waiting for business for so long time is frustration. Even have bus, bus is full of passengers.
