Previously operated by Singapore Bus Service (SBS), Choa Chu Kang was progressively handed over to Trans-Island Bus Service (TIBS) in late 1999 in exchange for services in Sengkang and Punggol. The handover took place in the following phases:
- 25 Jul 1999: Service 190
- 29 Aug 1999: Services 185, 300, 302 and 307
- 26 Dec 1999: Services 67, 172, 175 and 188.
Feeders 300, 301, 302 and 303 used to serve the interchange. 301 and 303 were merged to form Townlink 307 (now Intratown 307). The present service 301 was introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP).
