Punggol Bus Interchange

Go Ahead Singapore has taken over SBS Transit as the principal operator of Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange.

More details about the bus interchange at our new site, Land Transport Guru. Click here to continue.

Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange is a temporary bus interchange at Punggol Central, located adjacent to the Punggol MRT/LRT Station. It was built to cater for the residential developments of Punggol New Town, and allows for easy dismantling when the site is redeveloped in the future, hence retaining its ‘temporary’ status.

Prior to Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange, the only other bus terminal was the Punggol Road End Bus Terminus, which existed since the 1980s, and home to bus services like 82 and 83. By the time it was shut down in 2003, only Service 82 remained, and the terminal was converted to a bus stop.

Punggol Bus Interchange opened on Sunday, 30 November 2003 with four bus routes. Service 83 from Sengkang was amended to terminate here rather than looping around Punggol. Service 3 between Tampines and Pasir Ris was extended to Punggol and converted to a bidirectional route. Service 62 and 136 were extended from the former Hougang South Bus Interchange to the new Punggol Interchange.

Subsequently, more services like 34, 43 and 85 were introduced to bring about greater connectivity to Punggol. When Serangoon Bus Interchange moved to its new facility, Service 82 was amended to start from Punggol Int and loop at Serangoon Central, skipping Punggol Road End. A new service 84 was introduced to cover the lost sector.

On 21 October 2012, under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), Service 119 was extended from Sengkang to terminate at Punggol Bus Interchange, calling at an additional four pairs of bus stops.

Feeder Services:

Punggol Interchange received its first feeder on 17 Aug 2014 when Service 386 was introduced under the BSEP scheme. As a rapidly expanding new town, Punggol is expected to host more feeder services in the upcoming future.

Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange Expansion

In April 2015, LTA called for a tender to expand the existing Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange. The expansion will see an expanded interchange concourse, along with new boarding berths and toilets. A further 13 parking spaces will be added to the current 38 parking lots. This will be achieved through an expansion in space of 0.8ha from the current 1.2ha. Construction of the expansion will start in Q3 2015 after LTA has awarded the tender. The expanded concourse will allow for about 4 to 5 new bus services under BSEP.

  1. With the upcoming new flats, what are the new bus lines available? Currently I do not feel the convenience to go punggol or travel from punggol to the other parts of singapore.

    • Slowly LTA will introduce and as promised they will deliver 3 new bus services before tender closes. Wonder when it will happen

      • The three new services under the Loyang Bus Package are:

47 – Changi Business Park to Marine Parade (loop)

118 – Punggol to Changi Business Park

382W/G – Punggol to Sumang Walk (loop)

As mistaken, 117 is not under the Loyang Bus Package as Sembawang Interchange is currently not under it

  2. Dear Sir,

The train was disrupted today and the announcement made was there is a shutter bus to hougang. At 8am, I went to queue for the shutter bus and the queue went on till 8.30am. In the end there was no shutter bus. I only got to find out there was no shutter bus when someone came over in the long long queue saying the control station said there no shutter bus. How frustrated can a person be in the hot and hazey weather. Can’t the customer service at least standby there informing the queue that no shutter bus is provided?

  3. Dear Sir,

I am a resident of Punggol Walk staying in the Blk 213.

I wish to know do you have any future plan to set up a bus stop inside Punggol Walk?
Its actually one stop after Punggol Field opp Blk 272C since there is a roundabout inside for the bus to turn out. Currently walking in from the current bus stop of Punggol Field are quite a distance. Its actually quite inconvenient for the elderly.

    Appreciate for your prompt reply.

    Warm regards
