Bus Parallel Service or BPS are bus services that run parallel to existing rail lines.
Although it might be arguable that buses have been running parallel to existing rail lines ever since the MRT/LRT was built, bus parallel services intentionally duplicate segments of rail lines to ease demand and provide alternative modes of travel.
Currently, more services are being introduced under the Bus Services Enhancement Programme which duplicate rail lines by offering bus connections between housing estates and the CBD during peak hours.
Currently, only one service has been introduced under the BPS designation, Service BPS1.

Bus Parallel Service BPS1 provides an alternative route from Bukit Panjang to Choa Chu Kang during the peak periods. It was introduced to relive demand on the Bukit Panjang LRT which was frequently overcrowded during that period, and as an intermittent measure before new trainsets are delivered to further boost the capacity of the LRT line.
This unidirectional service operates from Segar Road to Chua Chu Kang Interchange, calling near Segar, Jelapang and Senja LRT stations.
Fares: This service charges normal fares under the DBF system.
Routing: Segar Rd > Bt Panjang Ring Rd > Senja Road > Senja Way > Woodlands Rd > Kranji Expressway > Choa Chu Kang Dr > Choa Chu Kang Ave 4 > Choa Chu Kang Loop > Choa Chu Kang Int
