History:

  • 2014 (14 Sep): Introduced between Toa Payoh Int and St. Michael’s Estate under the BSEP.

Service 139M provides residents of St. Michael’s Estate and Balestier Road with greater connectivity to Toa Payoh MRT and Interchange, along with other amenities in the neighborhood. The route serves HDB Hub, Toa Payoh Town Park, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, HomeTeamNS – JOM@Balestier and Whampoa CC. This bus service is introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), as well as the third M-suffixed service under the BSEP.

The service duplicates Service 139, relieving demand and improving reliability of bus services for commuters along 139’s most crowded stretches of route. With Service 139 operating at low headway during most parts of the day, 139M will enhance connections along the high demand sectors between Toa Payoh and St. Michael’s Estate.
