The service loops at Jurong Gateway Road, while not serving Jurong East Bus Interchange. As such, the route will call at a new bus stop, 28211 Opp Blk 135, close to the bus interchange. Additionally, the route will serve a pair of bus stops along Bukit Batok East Avenue 6 not currently served by existing bus routes (43141 Opp Blk 291A and 43149 Blk 291A). These are located near the new BTO development of SkyPeak @ Bukit Batok.

Fares: Charges fares for regular trunk services. See Bus Fares for exact fares.

Service 990 will offer free rides on 15th and 16th November 2014, the first two days of operation. This makes it the second BSEP bus service (after Service 49) to offer free rides at introduction, both of which serve within the Jurong GRC.

Fleet: Service 990′s fleet comprises of BSEP MAN NL323Fs. These buses were registered with the 30XX registration plates onwards and their purchase funded by the BSEP scheme.

Service 990’s launch was held in tandem with SMRT’s Community Engagement & Career Fair (known as Journey With Us@Bukit Batok Interchange). Free rides were offered to all commuters on the first two days of service (15 & 16 November 2014).

Mdm Halimah Yacob, the Guest of honour, was present at the launch ceremony.

  4. Hope that the 990 new bus stops along ave 6 can be “UPGRADED” into the new hdb. Don’t know why they are temporary bus stops. Draw a big fat yellow box there to prevent cars entering keming to stop at bus stop. Buses should turn to second lane and then cut into the bus stop instead of waiting like 10 minutes in the queue.
