LTA/SBST Joint Poster Release

Service 140 enhances connectivity for residents of Geylang Bahru, Bendemeer and St George’s Estate, connecting to key transport nodes, such as Lorong 1 Geylang Bus Terminal, Kallang and Boon Keng MRT stations, for transfers to other bus services or rail lines, along with other amenities in the vicinity. It is the thirty-fifth (35th) bus service to be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP).

The route serves St. George’s Estate, a small residential area currently without bus connections, and calling at three new bus stops within the estate (a pair along St. George’s Road, and one along St. Wilfred Road). It will also provide residents of Geylang Bahru with a direct service to Boon Keng MRT, currently not served by existing services.

In addition, it will enhance inter-town connectivity by providing residents with convenient access to key amenities including markets in Bendemeer, Geylang Bahru and Upper Boon Keng, St. Wilfred Sports Complex, Geylang West and Kolam Ayer Community Centres and schools such as Bendemeer Primary and Bendemeer Secondary.

Residents from the St. George’s Estate as well as students from Bendemeer Secondary used to walk up to 400m to the nearest bus stop along Serangoon Road prior to the introduction of this service.

Former bus service 20 from Sims Place used to loop at St. Wilfred Road before being withdrawn.

  1. I am staying in St. George’s Road, Daily to work taking MRT from Toa Payoh. pls help us either additional service from the current service31

  2. It will be great if the service will extend to a portion of St Michael road as the estate has not much connectivity too. Also the bus service at Jalan Bahagia can extend to Jalan Tenteram would help a great deal.
